قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةًۭ ۖ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلَّا رَمْزًۭا ۗ وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ كَثِيرًۭا وَسَبِّحْ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِ ﴿٤١﴾
He said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not [be able to] speak to the people for three days except by gesture. And remember your Lord much and exalt [Him with praise] in the evening and the morning."
qāla rabbi ij'ʿal lī āyatan qāla āyatuka allā tukallima l-nāsa thalāthata ayyāmin illā ramzan wa-udh'kur rabbaka kathīran wasabbiḥ bil-ʿashiyi wal-ib'kāri
وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِى نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًۭا وَخِيفَةًۭ وَدُونَ ٱلْجَهْرِ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ بِٱلْغُدُوِّ وَٱلْـَٔاصَالِ وَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْغَـٰفِلِينَ ﴿٢٠٥﴾
And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless.
wa-udh'kur rabbaka fī nafsika taḍarruʿan wakhīfatan wadūna l-jahri mina l-qawli bil-ghuduwi wal-āṣāli walā takun mina l-ghāfilīna
إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ وَقُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِ رَبِّى لِأَقْرَبَ مِنْ هَـٰذَا رَشَدًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾
Except [when adding], "If Allāh wills." And remember your Lord when you forget [it] and say, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct."
illā an yashāa l-lahu wa-udh'kur rabbaka idhā nasīta waqul ʿasā an yahdiyani rabbī li-aqraba min hādhā rashadan
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًۭا شَرْقِيًّۭا ﴿١٦﴾
And mention, [O Muḥammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.
wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi maryama idhi intabadhat min ahlihā makānan sharqiyyan
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًۭا نَّبِيًّا ﴿٤١﴾
And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi ib'rāhīma innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyyan
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخْلَصًۭا وَكَانَ رَسُولًۭا نَّبِيًّۭا ﴿٥١﴾
And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi mūsā innahu kāna mukh'laṣan wakāna rasūlan nabiyyan
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًۭا نَّبِيًّۭا ﴿٥٤﴾
And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi is'māʿīla innahu kāna ṣādiqa l-waʿdi wakāna rasūlan nabiyyan
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًۭا نَّبِيًّۭا ﴿٥٦﴾
And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi id'rīsa innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyyan
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ ﴿١٧﴾
Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allāh].
iṣ'bir ʿalā mā yaqūlūna wa-udh'kur ʿabdanā dāwūda dhā l-aydi innahu awwābun
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍۢ وَعَذَابٍ ﴿٤١﴾
And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."
wa-udh'kur ʿabdanā ayyūba idh nādā rabbahu annī massaniya l-shayṭānu binuṣ'bin waʿadhābin
وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ ﴿٤٥﴾
And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision.
wa-udh'kur ʿibādanā ib'rāhīma wa-is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba ulī l-aydī wal-abṣāri
وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ ﴿٤٨﴾
And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding.
wa-udh'kur is'māʿīla wal-yasaʿa wadhā l-kif'li wakullun mina l-akhyāri
۞ وَٱذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُۥ بِٱلْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦٓ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ ﴿٢١﴾
And mention, [O Muḥammad], the brother of ʿAad, when he warned his people in [the region of] al-Aḥqāf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allāh. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
wa-udh'kur akhā ʿādin idh andhara qawmahu bil-aḥqāfi waqad khalati l-nudhuru min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi allā taʿbudū illā l-laha innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا ﴿٨﴾
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.
wa-udh'kuri is'ma rabbika watabattal ilayhi tabtīlan
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًۭا ﴿٢٥﴾
And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening
wa-udh'kuri is'ma rabbika buk'ratan wa-aṣīlan
