At-Takathur · The Rivalry in world increase

أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ﴿١﴾

Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

alhākumu l-takāthuru

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ﴿٢﴾

Until you visit the graveyards.

ḥattā zur'tumu l-maqābira

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣﴾

No! You are going to know.

kallā sawfa taʿlamūna

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾

Then, no! You are going to know.

thumma kallā sawfa taʿlamūna

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٥﴾

No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

kallā law taʿlamūna ʿil'ma l-yaqīni

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ ﴿٦﴾

You will surely see the Hellfire.

latarawunna l-jaḥīma

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٧﴾

Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

thumma latarawunnahā ʿayna l-yaqīni

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٨﴾

Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.

thumma latus'alunna yawma-idhin ʿani l-naʿīmi
